August Coffee of the Month, Fairtrade Program Update and Other News.

We hope you are having a great summer!

Cold brew season is in full swing and sales are brisk.

August Coffee of the Month is from El Salvador

Roast Level - Medium

Varietals- Bourbon & Pacamara

Altitude : 1400

Region: Chalchuapa, Santa Ana, El Salvador.

The Cooperative Cuzcachapa was founded in 1966 to support the production of 56 small coffee farms and has grown to over 1400 member producers.  Frequently seen in Cup of Excellence and known for the stellar consistency, this cooperative is also extremely conscious of the environmental impact of its product.  The centralized wet mill floats the cherries in recycled water to remove defects prior to depulping.  Coffee is washed using very little water and then left on raised beds to dry in the sun.  All of the process is completed in 1 location which ensures efficiency and high quality.

Cupping Notes:  Well balanced, milk chocolate, cinnamon and toasted almonds.

Fairtrade Program Update

We had our final 3rd party Audit and the Fairtrade products became available on July 15th.

Members of the Fairtrade program have already received the onboarding instructions and the 1st set of tools to use to begin advertising as selling Fairtrade products.

If you are interested in becoming a Fairtrade partner, contact us for more info.  The onboarding fee is $299 and there is a monthly fee of $29 so it is not for everyone but if your brand can benefit from this, it is a real differentiator.  We are the only certified roaster that is allowed to offer this sort of program to it's private label partners.

Remember that if you are NOT participating in the FT program, you cannot state or imply that any of your coffee is being traded as Fairtrade.  The certification will be listed on the farm page but should not be included on your site.

Q4 Pricing and Offering List

We are still finalizing the new offerings that will be added to Q4.  We will be adding 2 new skus of tea and some new single serve (K style Cup) skus. among others.

The coffee market is still extremely volatile with coffee prices at 12 year highs.  USPS has made a mid year price increase and we are still waiting on the holiday increase expectation.  We are extremely focused on how to minimize price impact without negatively affecting service or variety/product options.  This will be a major discussion point in July's partner meeting.

The 2oz individual sample pack program reminder.

One of the best tools we have for increasing sales is our 2oz sample packs. Every coffee in every grind type is available in an individual 2oz black valved bags with your custom label.  These work great as free samples, business cards and as brand advertising in office, hotel and AirBNBs.  To access this program, you simply create a 2oz label 2x3 (600x900 pixels) in size, upload it to the labels and select the 2oz size. As soon as your label is approved, the option to order will be in the BULK tab and you can order in MOQ of only 12units/sku. (BULK program only)

Branded and Co-pack Single Use Cups. (K style cups)

Just a reminder that while all K style cups in the drop ship program are custom labelled boxes with plain lids, the BULK program does have more options.  We have a direct relationship with PBFY and they can help you do full print cup lids that can be used in the BULK program.

We also have a full service single use cup co-packing program where you can order as few as 5000 cups of branded cups with custom lids and/or full print boxes.  Bulk, 48 and 96 count bulk boxes are also options.

Email us for more info on any of these programs.
